From the Principal's desk

S.B.S. Government College, Hili (S.B.S. stands for Subal Chandra Bimala Sundari) is situated in the border area of Hili (an international border with Bangladesh) in the district Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal. This is the first higher educational institution in the entire block. The college runs full-fledged programmes in humanities like History, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Bengali and English with Honours and General courses and Zoology (Honours). The college will get new stream and subjects in coming years step by step to cater to the best education. Although it is located in a very remote area, the College is well connected by the road transportation from Balurghat to Hili and Patiram to Hili.

It is only the third year of its academic inception, that the college has been successfully running its academic activities with the full enthusiasm; all the teaching staff and LDC ,UDC are full time. All the teachers have been appointed by the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal, on recommendation of the West Bengal Public Service Commission as a W.B.E.S (West Bengal Education Service) cadre. The best teachers are working in the college and the students are also from various socio-economic and cultural background.  

I am also feeling very pleased to be a part of S.B.S Government College, Hili as the first Officer-in-charge of the college. I would like to congratulate all the people of Hili and adjoining areas. A very special thanks to Amulya Rantan Biswas (donor of the land) and other education lovers for their immense contribution in the field of education.
